Normally when I use Photomerge in Elements, I get great results. For these 2 photos, though, the end result comes out wrong. Can anyone help?

Nope. Not enough people to balance the photo on the front row ends. The photographer used a panorama camera on tripod. He started taking the picture on the left and as soon as those 2 girls were out of frame, they had to run behind us and get to the other end before the camera. We all had to stay still for the entire picture.

turn off perspective, and just use reposition
