My PC at work has Windows XP and IE 6.0. I have autocomplete enabled. For example, IE 6.0 remembers when I type
Z and autocompletes Zeiss in ebay search (or lists all
Z entries and I can choose). This feature works for most web sites.

Why doesn't Mac IE 5.1 offer this feature ? Or does it and I can't find it ?

thanks

It should be under Edit - Preferences - Forms AutoFill.

That's not the same thing. Autocomplete is to store your name, address, cc#, etc. for use in forms. IE autocompletes url's for me, and disabling autofill didn't turn it off.

Use mozilla. Problem solved.

In IE 5.1, you have two choices, AutoFill Profile, and Forms AutoComplete. You may have success in Forms AutoComplete.

We can do this. It's under preferences -> Browser display -> Toolbar settings.

Check the box that says "Use Address Autocomplete".

Works like a charm.

You're NOT talking about the url bar. I don't think that feature exists in any of the Mac browsers.. Maybe omniweb, i've hardly used it.

Thanks to all for the comments. It appears this great Windows IE 6.0
feature ( automatically autocomplete data for all forms, not just URL's) does NOT exist in Mac IE 5.1.

I will hope for an future upgrade.

I regularly turn off that kind of feature in Word, and except for particular information that I want the browser to complete, I'd turn it off in IE as well. I do use the autocomplete personal information stuff cause I hate to fill in all that information every time I enter a dealmac contest

Check under preferences for "Forms AutoFill".. It works fine for me, but I don't like the feature so I leave it off.
