Dead Rising 2 Trailer
Never played the first one, but after seeing this preview, I may indulge in some chaotic zombie killin' mayhem! The sequel will support 2 player co-op. Very nice!

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of 2 Worlds
Release date: Spring 2011.
Confirmed characters: Wolverine, Street Fighter Ryu, Chris Redfield from Resident Evil, Morrigan, Hulk and Iron Man.
Man, I remember back in college dumping a ton of quarters into MvC 2 in the game lounge. It's been at least 7 years since that game came out.

I was gonna steal one from work until I realized the easiest thing to do would be send it from work... in which case I don't want to be using a box stolen from work.

Dead Rising 2's Dark Comedy and Interactive Vomit - dead rising 2 - Kotaku
In the game, you can only recover from injury by eating food or drinking. But, if you drink too much alcohol or eat some of the spoiled food found in trashcans it can have both negative and positive side effects.
While doing both will partially heal some of your injuries, too much of either will cause you to vomit. This is portrayed quite graphically in the game.
The developers tell me that the vomit is randomly triggered. That means that you could be safely ensconced in a bathroom stall, where the game happens to have you save your game, or you could be in a battle for your life. Either way, when the urge hits, your character keels over, hands on knees, vomiting out a wave of grey liquid. Sometimes the spasm is so vigorous you actually drop whatever item your character is holding in his hand.
And there's one more thing. Zombies will, Blue Caste Games tells me, slip in your vomit if they walk through it. That makes your inability to hold down strong liquor a bit of an asset too, while playing with a buddy who can cover you while you empty your stomach.

I'm right with ya.
I've been stuck on MLB 10 and have returned to Uncharted 2 (especially co-op). I've barely turned the 360 on in the past several weeks. The only real complaint I have about PSN is no cross-game chat and the message system isn't quite as intuitive. Other than that, I'm not any more impressed with XBL, and I much prefer the XMB to XBL's interface.

Eight More Leave Modern Warfare Developers, Bringing Total To 26 - Call of duty legal warfare - Kotaku
In addition to the five men who left on Friday, we've learned that three more - level designer Keith Bell, designer Charlie Wiederhold and level designer Preston Glenn - also packed up and left the Activision-owned Infinity Ward at the end of last week.
Adding to these are five more, all of whom left yesterday: lead character artist Joel Emslie, weapons artist Ryan Lastimosa, artist Brad Allen, lead programmer Robert Field and our first non-developmental one of the bunch, HR/recruitment specialist Kristin Cotterell.
That brings us to a staggering 26 employees in total to have left Infinity Ward since the drama began, a tally which constitutes the bulk of the studio's creative and programming "brains trust".
That's damn near a third of the studio. That many of these people are foregoing any chance at their bonuses (since Activision seems to holding it hostage, best that we can tell) is telling.

Unless it's on the Wii... but seriously, I didn't know they were behind Medal of Honor. Mostly because I forgot that Medal of Honor had existed and had assumed they were the same long-running franchise.

Not necessarily, case-in-point.
The linked article talks about the developers who left Blizzard after releasing the first Diablo and went on to create Hellgate:London (heard of it? no? exactly...).

Finally.
'Infinity Ward Employee Group' sues Activision for $150 to $625 million -- Joystiq
Allegedly, the employees of IW have received $28 million in bonuses, and are claiming to be owed another $54 million from just 2009. The rest of the treasure chest is sought for a gaggle of other reasons, ranging from "lost value on restricted stock units that Activision promised would vest" to MW2's "sister games," which seems to include the still-unannounced Modern Warfare 3.
In fact, the group's lawyer Bruce Isaacs contends that, in holding the remaining employees based on claims of larger royalties, Activision has breached those employees' contracts. "Activision has withheld most of the money to force many of my people to stay, some against their will, so that they would finish the delivery of Modern Warfare 3. That is not what they wanted to do, many of them. My clients are entitled to their money. Activision has no right to withhold their money -- our money." The suit's legalese also claims as much, even going as far as to accuse the publisher of holding "[IW] employees hostage so that Activision could reap the benefit of the completion of Modern Warfare 3." Yikes!

Halo 2 Superfans Refuse to Let the Dream Die - Xbox - Gizmodo
Two weeks ago, Microsoft killed Xbox Live support for the original Xbox, making it impossible to play old games like Halo 2 online. But 13 people are still playing by keeping their old consoles on and connected 24/7.
There used to be a lot more people staying online, but crashing consoles and timed out connections have whittled that number down to the final 13. And chances are good that those folks won't last all that much longer, although it's unlikely that Microsoft will kick them off unless this goes on for a ridiculous amount of time. But these old Xboxes weren't meant to play for months straight.
They have to be on a first name basis with each other now, right? Hope they're all in the same time zone, too, and like the same gametype, because thats barely enough people for most playlists.

Halo Developer Joins Forces With Activision - Bungie - Kotaku
According to the official press release, "Under the terms of the agreement, Activision will have exclusive, worldwide rights to publish and distribute all future Bungie games based on the new intellectual property on multiple platforms and devices. Bungie remains an independent company and will continue to own their intellectual property."
"Today, we're poised to open a new chapter in Bungie's history-one that begins with a partnership between Bungie and Activision and ends where we always knew it would, with World Domination," stated the company's official blog . "Our Next Big Thing now has a concrete path, leading from our studio to the platforms of our choosing. The business formalities are behind us. Our Constitution remains unchanged. We are still Bungie, still independent, and now we are free to bring our stories to an ever bigger audience."
Um, wow. So bungie got the deal IW desperately wanted. Does this make Activision look like bigger jerks or what?
GameStop: It Is Not Cool To Take Pictures And Send Them To Internet Sites - GameStop - Kotaku
According to our sources, it seems the motivation for the email was a threat from Nintendo to pull all its products from GameStop stores, in retaliation for the succession of leaks leading up to today's photo. A hollow threat it may have been, with GameStop surely being too big a customer to actually freeze out, but it's a threat nonetheless.

Call of Duty: Black Ops set for Nov. 9, 2010 -- Joystiq
Activision has unveiled the official website for Call of Duty: Black Ops, the latest entry from the franchise's alternate developer, Treyarch (they're the ones you haven't been reading about as much these days). Aside from its title and what appears to be a release date -- November 9th, 2010 -- Black Ops remains enshrouded in mystery and somewhat superfluous (we're up to 16 cents!) smoke. Expect to see much more when GTTV reveals the first footage later today.
Kotaku speculated that it takes place in modern times (seems right), which makes wonder if this is one of the pieces that lead to the fallout with IW's heads (this would be in violation of the "agreement" that only IW would develop COD games taking place in a modern setting).

Retailer: New Call Of Duty Goes To Arctic, Cuba, Vietnam - call of duty black ops - Kotaku
Call of Duty returns this November, but this is a Call of Duty like no other, this is Black Ops.
Now you will witness the birth of the Elite Special Forces and take part in off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done! From Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam, Call of Duty: Black Ops features stunning cinematic graphics and intense gameplay that puts you right at the heart of the action!
That's from a product listing for Black Ops on the website of major UK retailer Game.
The listing strengthens assumptions that the game will have a modern setting. (Clarification: "Modern," as in after World War II, setting the game beyond the era during which most COD games have been set.)

Report: Gears Of War 3 Is Like Waterworld, Minus Kevin Costner - Gears Of War 3 - Kotaku
According to translations of a big Gears of War 3 piece in a Russian gaming mag, giving us our first real details on the game, Epic's upcoming shooter will take place on the open sea.
Sounds awful.
Other tidbits: there's confirmation the game has mechs - called "Silverbacks" - and Gears 3's difficulty will also be scaled back, Epic claiming around 60% of players never bothering to finish the last game.
Or the multiplayer.

Nintendo Still Figuring Out This Online Subscription Fee Thing - Wii - Kotaku
"Do we need to demand customers pay monthly fees to enjoy online activities?" Miyamoto told Edge. "Or give an online subscription that is free of charge, but then offer something extra for people that pay, so that they get some extra value? With these core business strategies I think we are less active than we should be."
Will Nintendo out MS MS?

EA introduces one-time-use 'Online Pass' for sports games -- Joystiq
EA just announced the next step of its "Project Ten Dollar" initiative, one that's likely to affect a lot of people much more deeply than the allure of some extra DLC. Starting with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, out June 8, EA Sports games for PS3 and Xbox 360 will include a title-specific "Online Pass" that enables access to "online services, features, and bonus content." If the code has already been redeemed (i.e. if you bought the game used) additional Online Passes will be available for (you guessed it!) ten dollars.
...
CEO Dan DeMatteo offers a cheerful quote in the announcement. "GameStop is excited to partner with such a forward-thinking publisher as Electronic Arts," DeMatteo said. "This relationship allows us to capitalize on our investments to market and sell downloadable content online, as well as through our network of stores worldwide."
Talk about the cure being worse than the disease. Guess with all the Infinity Ward turmoil EA saw they needed to step up their game to make sure the Worst Company in Gaming competition wasn't a blow-out.

I wonder how Microsoft feels about this. They already charge for online multiplayer - wonder if they're cool with EA charging on top of that for the same service.
This just sucks all around, though. Luckily I don't buy too many EA games...
