I've seen this come up a couple of times in some threads I've been reading. I haven't got an iBook yet, so don't know from first hand experience, but want to know - how much of an issue is the 'low' volume of the iBook's speakers? Are they loud 'enough', or are they just too damn quiet?

Thanks.

I have never had an issue with the speakers being too quiet. With the itunes volume maxed and the speaker volume at 50%, i can hear it across my bedroom just fine. I'm not saying the quality is great, but the volume is no different from any other laptop ive heard.

I second that. You'll want a cheap pair of decent headphones to plug in when you're anywhere but in total peace.

they arent bad but i have found that for me they are far too quiet enless directly infront of the ibook. and the bass on them is attrocious it just isnt there. i agree a set of headphones while on the move and some cheap computer speakers for in the house is the best bet

Quality and sound are cack. Headphone socket delivers excellent quality, so its not the soundcard.

That said, they're tiny and when you look at the ones on the 17" Powerbook, you see that Apple prefer larger speakers so squishing them into the iBook isn't going to be good.
Refusing to resign myself to using an Apple full time - cost so far: 152 for a new hard disk for my Vaio, 10 for new IDE cables for my desktop.
