What. The. Hell.

According to Tuesday reports, in their second conversation, Trump spoke with the Russian leader for roughly an hour, joined only by Putin's translator. The meeting had previously gone without mention by the administration.
He went alone.

Why does he need to tell anyone about his meetings? Answer: He doesn't. Hell, I'd setup secret meetings every day, just to watch everyone at CNN, WaPo, and the NY Times have seizures.

When you're being investigated for improper Russian ties ... it is not the best time for off-record meetings with the Russian President. Especially when you could have discussed anything in the above-board meeting. Logic suggests the clandestine meeting covered things that were unwise to discuss in the public meeting.

At the very least, this displays poor judgement.

So much goalpost shifting by Trump supporters.

Usually politicians say things in such a way where they can weasel out of them. Trump did not do this during election season, he was super clear on his promises and his supporters loved him for that. It was a breath of fresh air in many ways to hear from a plain spoken citizen who did not talk like a politician.

Now various Trump lies have been exposed over and over again and his supporters have been trying to make this about his legal rights, about the Democrats, precedence, the media - anything but simply acknowledging the lies.

And with Russia while we can't yet make non-debatable claims about what the truth is with the investigation underway, it should be obvious to anybody (I think) that Trump has displayed extremely bad judgment in much of this Russia stuff. Instead of just acknowledging this, we have the same sort of deflections.

Until we can look at the actions of a politician (left or right) and acknowledge what is pretty plainly evident - positive or negative, without the left vs. right shitshow, we are in for some very rough times. Another good example was the fact that Obama is pretty articulate. Many on the right (at least on this forum) would simply not acknowledge this.

It is plainly obvious that what reader50 has said is quite true: at the very least Trump's judgment has been extremely poor.

Seconded. Trump, his clan and his administration couldn't have acted more suspiciously if they tried.

Wow. It's quite telling that you have framed the issue the way you did. But this isn't some childish game to get back at CNN, the Washington Post or the New York Times, this is world politics where decisions can have very, very serious repercussions. Hell, this isn't even smart from a purely utilitarian perspective for the Trump clan, nobody can vouch for what was and wasn't discussed during that meeting — besides Putin and his translator.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Remember, this is in the context of Kushner previously looking to create back-channels to Russia that circumvented the govt.
