I like watches. As long as I am a student, I'll stick to Citizen watches. I always pay around 250 € for one, sometimes more, sometimes less.

I wouldn't ever pay that much personally, but I have no problem with it.
I have a few watches, the most expensive of which is about $130... a Seiko SKX025J2.
Is that watch trying to look like a Rolex?

I spent $200 on each of these.
I bought the wooden one a few months ago and I bough the white one today. I was excited when nixon released a bamboo one since I emailed them suggesting a lighter wood color. I tried on the bamboo one today and it too light and doesn't look nice. The white on the other hand is very smart.

It depends on the watch. I have a Rolex I bought last year for $5500. This is a watch that I wear everyday and expect to last a lifetime. It is a fashion statement as well. I know a person could spend under $50 and get a watch that would tell time great for the duration of the battery but it wouldn't have the same cachet.
Always buy what suits your need and you can afford.

Those are some nice watches.
I have to throw in my vote for my good ol' Timex. I picked up a Timex Expedition for about $25 new (similar to below but with a brass bezel and leather band). I've beat this thing up and it still looks great (I'd hate to have a watch I have to baby).

I prefer a railroad face (you can practically read them from the corner of your eye) in a stainless steel case with a stainless expansion band. You can get accurate, durable, and nice looking for under $100.

Yep I noticed, although your metal band doesn't seem to be an original one?
Well, the only thing I miss is the day/calendar. My Swatch Wheeling was off 1 second per week, this one is almost one second off per hour, approx. 2..3 minutes each week. How's yours?

AHH, finally found my watch...
I got this as a graduation gift from my dad... I had not worn a watch before getting it, but I love this watch... it is continually abused, but only has ONE minor scratch on the face... probably when I was working on my jeep...

For 3 generations now, the men in my family have all received an Omega watch on their 21st birthday from their father. My dad's original Omega lasted him nearly 30 years before he updated it. I love mine. 4 years of wear and not a scratch on the crystal.

Quote i read about people that don't have a watch:
People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.... I
know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my
crotch when I ask where the toilet is?
As for whats a good price to pay, It depends if you after fashion or function. For fashion well go with what you like, just as you would with any type of Jewelry. if it costs a bit but you really like the style then thats what you go for, if you can find a similar style at a cheaper price and your happy with that then go that way.
if all you need is function head down to the nearest watch dealer and pickup something cheap, I bet it will still concern you how it looks
I would spend up to $2000 for a watch and generally grab a TAG or an Oakley.

Old Longines (1930s ?). Picked up cheap. Keeps perfect time. Nice with the 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 hours instead of 3, 6, 9, 12.

Tough enough to design an OS—but imagine having to design a watch that provokes a response.

I love my `71 Rolex Sea-dweller, same model that Bond wore in Diamonds are Forever. Can't see buying another watch. Got it for almost nothing at an estate auction and had it completely rebuilt.
