You can install microsoft office on your ipad, and link them to the desktop license. They have blocked opening with other apps.

I don't think the license for office 2011 will apply to the ios apps. I know I can use my login from office 365 on ios apps.

You can only use full functionality of MS Office apps on iOS for free if you fulfill the following requirements:

* screen size less than 10.1 inch
* account is not tied to a Corporate account

So it won't work on an iPad Pro... Hmmm. Them MSers sure seem to be rude folks. Some people might want to have the Pro just for the screen size. I'm thinking people with vision problems (read elderly, vision impaired, etc.). I kinda wonder if MS Legal has thought this through.

From a "most users" perspective, the free iOS versions under those limitations should be fine. But if someone's disability requires a larger screen along with use of accessibility settings, we may be looking at an "accidental discrimination" situation.

Hey, I gotta look at things like this. I'm an OT, and adapting the world to fit an individual is at the core of my profession.

Well, the reason is that they want to charge “pro” / business users.

I actually think it’s nice they make it free for smaller devices. They didn’t have to do this.

You can using the Files app on iPad/iPhone. It isn't as easy, but it is possible.

Microsoft Word/Excel is free on regular non-pro iPads with all editing capability enabled. For iPad Pro users, you only get viewing capabilities for free, and have to pay for the monthly subscription service (?????) to edit files. I hate paying for subscription. I rather buy the iOS version for $30 or something and never have to pay again.
