That's probably why MacMall was telling me this Friday, and they are now saying next Friday.

Sigh.....

I guess they should just put up a sign that says "17" Powerbook will be here tomorrow!", and just let people keep coming back day after day...

The 17" will be in stores in June - that's the only month this year that has a "Friday the 13th" :-P

Put your money in the bank, maybe when they finally start shipping, you'll earn enough interest to buy a snickers bar

I just called the 2 Apple Stores in VA and they both said they expected them to be in on Monday. Both said that they were pretty confident about this date as all other dates were 'estimates' and this was a solid date. But, since they both said the same thing it either means this is a good thing, or just more corporate dribble.

Hehe. I'm eally hoping they start to receive them soon

Yea, I'm serious. I might work from home on Monday. Home is about 10 minutes from the Tyson's store. I'm getting seriously excited. I just want the darn things to start to ship - just so I know there is a chance of getting one before my 'on or before' date of 4/4/2003.

Where does it say 2-3 weeks? I just went to the Apple Store online and made pretend that I was ordering a 17" and it said 3-5 weeks.

Apple Store Cincinnati says they don't have a date or even a hint. Ask 20 people, you will probably get 20 different answers.

I don't think even Moof the Dogcow knows when they will arrive.

Same story at the Indianapolis Apple Store as of this afternoon--they have no idea, and they won't even hazard a guess.

Question for those who were at the Apple Stores this afternoon: Did they have Titanium 15" models on display?

Oh, I will. I asked them to put me on their 'call list'; however, I don't give much faith in that. Both of the stores said they would receive shipments before 12:00 if the shipments came in via FedEx. If they were on another carrier it could be as late as 3:00 PM. I'll be calling them by about 12:15 or so if I do not hear from them.

Here's to hoping.

Well, the sales rep. at the Tyson's store said they do not have them in yet - and expected them in a few weeks.

The sales rep. at the Clarendon store said they expected them this week.

So, I've received 3 different answers from 4 people over 2 stores. Damn them

I've just about had it with everyone and their brother quoting dates left and right, and yet APPLE says NOTHING!
Absolutely friggin nothing about the 17" powerbooks.

I'm a new switcher like many others who just cannot believe it, and are so close to cancelling and giving their hard earned money back to the PC world and re-supporting MICRO-CRAP.....

I've had it. <repeat 3 times for dramatic effect>

-impatiently yours

On January 7, Apple said 7-10 weeks. That gives them until a week from tomorrow to ship.

While I agree with you, there is still a substantial lack of coherency between every provider of the 17". The only possible explanation is that Apple is not providing the retailers (including their own Apple stores) with the proper information regarding the shipping dates. It is this lack of information that is causing such and uproar.

I know. I'm just countering the original poster's claim that Apple has said "nothing".
