When I open Safari, it consistently bounces for a while and then quits. I've repaired permissions on my startup drive, restarted, redownloaded, the whole works. Has anyone else had this problem?

'Unexpectedly quit' is beginning to become something of a misnomer.

I am having a similar problems only it is when I go to certain sites... It just shuts down. Maccentral and Shock are two sites it wont go to. I think Amazon was another. Must have something to do with java. I know it shows an error in the status bar at the maccentral site so it must just shut down when it finds errors. Its driving me nuts.

I have deleted prefs, fixed permissions etc etc.
I am running 10.2.3 on a MDD 867

Maccentral works fine for me! Is there a particular URL in there that doesnt work? Have you sent in a bug report?

The EXACT same thing just started happening to me today. It will bounce about 3 time, the rainbow beachball will spin, and then the dialog will come up, "Safari has unexpectedly quit". I redownloaded and reinstalled too, same thing. I'm gonna trash some preferences and see what happens...

Good luck (and wish me some too!)

Okay, I just got it. I trashed the history plist and tried to launch again, that didn't work, so I trashed my download plist, and it launched successfully.

Everything is back to normal, but I don't know why it happened in the first place.

Oh well, hope this works for you, too.

Hey TimeOnMyHands,

How do you "trash your download plist"?

Safari now won't launch for me either. On the latest version of Jaguar here, but Safari "unexpectedly quits".

Help!!!! :o)
