Hi
I reinstalled completely my iBook indigo yesterday. I started
by installing OS9.1, then installed Appleworks 6.0.4 on the same
partition. I then installed OSX on a second partition, performed
the upgrades to 10.0.3. I then downloaded the Appleworks upgrade
and tried to run it under OSX. It started well, but ended with
a message saying that a 'System folder' was needed on the partition.
I rebooted under OS9 and ran the updater. It worked well.
The problem is that when I try to run Appleworks from OSX, it is
started as a Classic application.
How can I solve this?
Thanks
Jean-Noel Colin

In the OS X finder get info on the AppleWorks icon and turn 'launch in classic' or whatever it's called off.

I did not find such a button in the infobox. When I do Apple-I on the
icon, it says it is a Classic application

The International updater of AppleWorks to 6.1.2 is ONLY FOR CLASSIC - go figure what Apple are doing with this one...
If you have a Apple Software restore CD > open the disk image > drag AppleWorks out > this is the US version > then run the updater (In OS 9.1) and you will have a carbon US Appleworks - I can't seem to find any other way round it.

The problem is that I only have the international version of AppleWorks.
Does that mean that I HAVE to run it as a Classic app?

Install your international AppleWorks 6 and make the update to 6.0.4. Make a copy of the complete folder and update to 6.1.2 to one copy (your Classic version in your favourite language). Now open the other AppleWorks 6.0.4 with ResEdit and change all vers Resources to USA. Now you can use the US english updater to create the OS X Preview version of AppleWorks (in US english) by updating this one.

Why don't you have the Apple Software Restore CD that came with your Mac - or should I not ask?
