So after looking at the apple.com site. If you go to the apple store to buy your copy of tiger you can win some free stuff. The ad mentions powerbook G4, ipod and other prizes... it wont state what the rules are so I am wondering if anyone knows anymore details.

Do you think Apple will match the presale rebates offered by everyone else?
If not $95 versus $129.99 is a no brainer.

I read somewhere that they did have specials during the promotions in the store. But really, with my student discount its only $69 + tax... can't beat that

In the past you were able to enter drawings for prizes, and well as free mousepads, or dog tags, plus you got a card for 10% off the OS purchase that night.

I got 3 sets of Panther dogtags at the last promo. That was fun, I'm going for the Tiger promo in a couple weeks.

Doubt it - if you want to buy it from Apple directly, you'll probably have to pay full-price.

I have never missed one. They are fun. It will be strange with it starting at 6pm this time instead of the usual midnight. I wonder if the long lines will be there like they are at the midnight unveiling?

Midnight? What town do you live in? I live here in the SF Bay Area where Apple's flagship store is and Night of Panther started friday night from 8pm to midnight. As with Jaguar's release it started at 6pm friday. I have never know Apple to open their stores at midnight for any celebration.

It has been stated that the retail Apple Store provides student discounts only on hardware.

Eugene, Oregon. However, you'll have to be a University of Oregon student to get it first Otherwise, regular $129 for you...

I live in Cincinnati, and I guess Alzheimer's is setting in early. Maybe it was 10pm to midnight, too far back to remember correctly, I guess, lol
