Apple has released OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 and iTunes 12.2.2. The new OS update fixes compatibility with some email servers, Photos, and Quicktime Player issues, as well as slaying the
DYLD_PRINT_TO_FILE privilege escalation attack. The iTunes update fixes sorting issues, playlist display issues, adds artist interaction through Connect in iTunes, and adds "improvements to overall stability and performance." It is not yet known if iTunes metadata corruption issues have been fixed.
The iTunes update comes in at 144MB. It is not yet known if it fixes issues with metadata corruption or file relocation at this time. Other fixes included are the ability to click on the Beats 1 banner to see what's playing or to see a complete schedule, and resolution of an issue where iTunes loses its place while scrolling through a list of media.
The OS X update comes in at a weighty 815MB. Beyond the fixes already mentioned, other "stability and reliability enhancements have been noted. The update took 15 minutes to finish from completion of download to desktop on a 2012 MacBook Pro with Retina Display i7 with 16GB of RAM.
The updates are currently available through the Mac App Store. Discrete download links are not yet available.
