Ah, the AppleInsider mystery is solved. Monish is actually Osama Bin-laden, and he's trying to get all the AI-ers to leave, so he can use the web site as a front for terrorist activities. "MacsKickAss" is actually an FBI operative who has been following the AI boards in order to trace Bin-laden.
The 4th of July is the planned date to organize their cells for the next operation - the kidnapping of Steve Jobs!

It is very annoying. Someone should kick all that traffic out. I doubt it has anything to do with macs. Prolly' some university students somewhere noted that it never gets any traffic and are now using it as their own personal chat room. For a small number (which is all that page ever sees) it's pretty fast.
Annoying as hell.
Let's go over there and start having a discussion about how backwards the middle east is. hehehe. Life is Short, have fun.

WHEW! What a night. I'll post a detailed report later, but AI chat had an angry Arab tonight... I took screenshots of the whole thing, assembling in the morning. 380 screenshots total so far, and the night isn't over.

NAIM GOT ORGANIZED!!!!
Imagine what would happen if Naim turns out to be the catalyst that starts WW3. How would all of us AI'ers feel about that? All of the criticisms we posted on his "It's time to fight" thread... just pushed him over the edge! Well, he was over the edge to begin with, but surely there was something we could have done to stop the madness!
Makes you think twice about how you respond to insane people. Next thing you know, 68K will go on a killing spree because we hacked him to pieces about his narcissistic excess.

Man, I miss AI. You just don't get this cast of characters anyplace else. The Arab thing is bizarre - just the kind of thing you'd expect would happen to AI.

Hehehe...
I think naim is somewhere in his room (probably under his bed) still sobbing while he makes out a hit list. Ever think what would happen if we mated a naim to a monique?
Ah the good old days. And WTF is going on with those arabs?

I'll second that.
Let MacAgent kick posters off, I've seen him in the chat many, many times and he has the distinction of being both a constant presence and a reasonable person who I would trust with such a task.

Isn't it sad that we have to start a thread about the state of AI chat here at MacNN? I remember when everyone would flood AI chat when the UBB inevitably went down before a keynote. It's like we've completely given up on AI. But then again the owners don't seem to give a sh!t about it either.

While I would be more likely to post this at AI, were it up, I possibly would have posted the last two screenshots (around 300, actually ) here as well, purely for the humor.

So basically whoever created this web page:
... is illegally using/linking to the Appleinsider Digichat. It must be done in such a way that it appears as if its their own chat so these hapless Arabic youths have no idea... presumably. That is, if they enter through the above website it looks like it is "their" chatroom. They have no idea what Appleinsider is.
Its funny, this is practically the only traffic Appleinsider has seen in months.

The fort's gone, general! They took everything.
Here's the story of the last 5 hours ... we tried to reason with them early on, through sary_1st, but he was ineffective. We made it clear that their site was going to be shut down, but they ignored us for the most part.
There was a big push to clear the rooms through flooding around 3:30 PT, but they eventually got smart at around 5:00 and started flooding us with their messages, written with the Arabic language pack. IE tries to process the text, and it just grinds to a halt after a bit. I had to restart Classic a few times just to get back in the boards again.
So they're in the hands of the enemy ... for now. I may try and go back in at around 9:30 PT, but they have it for now.
Help me, friends and fellow countrymen! In the end, we will prevail!

Freakin' frustrating it is! But as was said... it's the only traffic there... maybe AI's advertisers don't mind... if they can see that stuff.
I did my share of stomping around there tonight. And all I can say is this...

I don't know how to display Arabic characters on my Mac... I took that screenshot from IE 5.5 in Windows, which, all arguments aside, is at least kind enough to autodetect and download language packs when you need them.
