Neato Photo!
Give petty people just a little bit of power and watch how they misuse it! You can't silence the self doubt, can you?

There's some other really good satellite photos of New Orleans at NASA's Earth Observatory.

I wonder if/when they'll update Google Earth. At the moment at least I can do before/after comparisons on my pc. Interesting and depressing at the same time.

This is my friend's house on Google Maps.

She got out last Sunday--before the levee's were breached--with her dog, a few changes of clothes, and some work papers. She left her cat--she couldn't find it--and everything else behind.

Her family is in Muscle Shoals, AL and she will be staying there for the time being. She has NO idea when she might possibly be able to get back into town and to her home. It will be months though.
One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

Nice picture, thank you.

Your friend's place (on the left) is about as close to the river and the levee as my Aunt's place in Violet (on the right). Too bad google doesn't have a post-Katrina image that far over. We'd like to see if the news is as bad as we think.

My aunt and her family made it out safely and are in Dallas.
