I wouldn't have believed this one if I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes:
Proof-of-concept iPod virus discovered

From the article:
It should be stressed that in order for the virus to function, Linux has to be installed on the iPod. If the virus is installed to the iPod by the user, the virus then installs itself to the folder which contains program demo versions. Podloso cannot be launched automatically without user involvement.
What the hell is wrong with people?

So pretty much for you to be infected by this virus you need to
* Install iPod Linux
* Install said virus
* Initiate said virus

Then gasp in shock as the message "You are infected with Oslo the first iPodLinux Virus" is displayed on your screen.

Apparently it's a really slows news day over at zdnet.

Yeah, but that couldn't happen on accident.

I love their logic. They ignore everything that defines a computer virus and just assume "If the name says it's a virus it must be a virus." If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, but has a sign around its neck that says "Cow", it must be a cow.

I got a Unix virus in my e-mail once.

It was a text sig that said "Hi, I'm a Unix virus! Please delete some random files from your hard drive and send me to all your friends."

Quick, somebody call ZDNet.

This is "Proof-of-Concept" that antivirus companies spend their day coming up with phony viruses.

"Proof-of-dumbass" virus, if you ask me.

I'm a bird. I am the 1% (of pets).
