Gradually almost everyone here will have test driven this hyped up machine. (pretty disappointing considering the ad!) I am not impressed. Let's see how this poll goes.

Since I stopped doing Mac-type things for work I've stopped visiting AppleCentres. Would you believe I still haven't touched an LCD iMac yet.

I've seen photos though.

I'll pop into the AppleCentre to buy 10.3 so I guess I'll see a G5 (and the iMacs) in umm... well, whenever.

Note to Steve Jobs: Please send me a free G5.

Hey it's worth a shot.

In comparison to my eMac 800 I am extremely impressed. I had someone encode a clip in iDVD in less than realtime on a 1.6. mine is 4-5 times RT.

Seemed good in my short experience of it. But then, with my current machine, anything would.

PS willab - I always get confused when I see your posts as for a second I think I wrote them.

I was impressed by the G5 when I saw it in person. Mac OS 10.3 Panther will make it run even better!

All you people comparing it to the dual 1.42 GHz G4 and saying "it isn't THAT much faster" are idiots; this machine isn't designed for people who ALREADY have a top of the range system.
