..you want noise ?

..get a ps2 - like a hoover on steroids.

..as for america making crappy products - when they build things properly , they REALLY build 'em... ie : Amana freezers - built like a sherman tank.!..

The claim that this is for pro users. But, as you see, you have many people hacking away at their "pro" g4's like they were some home build PC AMD system. And all I hear is rumors. Anyways, apple is getting beat out by AMD systems. everyone knows AMD beat both P4's and G4's....
What the heck are you trying to say? You really don't make any sense you know.

So you bought a powermac and now you're complaining that because it was "pro" it has to be perfect...

Its a piece of technology built of earthly parts... based on actual voltages running through wires and semiconductors... its not invincible, but then again no piece of electronics is.

And now you've really lost any kind of credibility by going off on a rant about AMD.

*sigh*... now you're complaining that they upgrade their products too often?

Why are you bitter at Apple about having your machine go obsolete? Its just the way things are with technology in general. You CAN'T stay on top of the curve forever.

If you bought any other PC, in a few months something would have come out to top it. Live with it. Tough. THAT'S LIFE.

I agree with your post 100%.
You know, there are people out there that should not be allowed to own a computer.

well, apple has not fixed this problem yet. and the crys just get louder by the day. of course with their ad campaign, you would never think such nightmares could occour.

Apples high end line is a laughing stock..... over price, and OVERLOUD....

it would not be that bad if they just came out and made an OFFICAL statment, but they havent, have have been stalling until january..... to phaze out these g4's.....

None of this has anything to do with how USEABLE the machine is.

Just how is this PREVENTING you from getting work done or making
money off of pro studio work since your alias indicates you are a
pro or promote yourself as one?

So far what I see is complaints of noise, the whole "refurbished" thing which is a joke since the SECOND you take a computer out of a store it's not NEW anymore and is then USED - it's yours.

Most pro studios have baffling to mask machine noise. Home
studios, well, you know the drill - there's going to be SOME
noise. But read on and you'll see how I work.

I've got both a G4 tower and a Athlon box. More on the Athlon
box later - it is literally a JET ENGINE in terms of the sound it
creates versus the G4 (of course, there's a Volcano7 in there,
a Thermaltake active memory cooler with mini muffin fan and
extremely high output air conditioner unit). It's a Red Hat
box. It's also got Windows but I don't use this box for studio
work. Want more info? See http://pod.ath.cx/cpu/index.html to
see it.

The G4 is my main music production machine. Of course, I'm using
a 400 mhz G4 not one of the new ones but since (1) I don't use any
microphones (I record direct, even the guitars) and (2) I monitor
with an amp and speakers that could drown out any fan in the world
(or studio monitoring headphones) there's no need to worry. I've
found the machine is rock solid stable when dealing with even very
large projects (upwards of 50-60 tracks). I also use a lot of
virtual instruments.

I do a lot of project work for friends as well as clients. One
of the more fun projects I did was resurrecting the demo of a
NY musician who'd had her entire home studio stolen. She had the
tapes left but all her gear and recording equipment walked away.
She'd moved to MN and the idea was to spiff the stuff on her demo
up so it could be releasable. Then she could afford some gear
again.

I've done at least two dozen full-length (80 minute) CD projects
on this box. I've done countless single tracks for myself and
clients and friends. I've also done some work for video as well
as well as soundtrackish material for various projects.

Sheesh. I've already added 6 trolls to my "block post" list. Hello Number 7...
Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction.

You don't have to worry about him anymore, I believe he's been banned.

Anyhow, I found out he's a liar and an ex-pc user, so now it all makes sense.

His trolling got me so mad, so I went and investigated him last night. You'll find find him on practically every mac forum there is, under various user names. His consistent mispelling and choice of certain words makes him easy to spot. (Ripped off, Refurbished, Phazed out, Look at these links, Sue, etc.)

He gives out a different story in every post he makes.

In one post he says he has a $2000 new powermac

In another post he has a $3000 powermac

In another post he's considering buying a mac.

In another post he owns a powerbook.

In another post, he doesn't even own an audio card, lol. (proaudio ?)

Well, I for one am glad he's gone.

Good Riddance.
