iPhone Safari: child window taking over parent window

Hi All,
Here is an iPhone Safari behaviour I can't figure out: when I'm surfing and a child window opens from a link (click on a link, and another window opens with the new site), when I close that child window and automatically go back to the parent window, the site that _was_ in the child window now loads in the parent window. I usually have to go to History to reload the original site.
Pain in the *ss! Anybody know of a workaround? (FYI: this is an unhacked phone)
Thanks in advance for any insight,
Chas

Yeah, that is rather annoying. but it doesn't always happen which makes me wonder if its the web pages or the iPhone.

For me, it seems as if it depends partially on how long I wait until I go back to the parent window. But I do agree with greenG4 that it is some pages and not all (what the magic option is, I don't know, but I can sometimes see the parent window starting to load the child window URL in the address bar. if i make it back to the parent window quick enough, I don't have the child load; otherwise it does.

It truly is annoying, and was wondering if I was the only one having this issue. I've gotten in the habit of clicking the home button immediately after closing the child window. Then, I go back into Safari, and the parent window is still safely there.

Good workaround, thanks for pointing it out (me, I've been depending on History to reload the parent page).

Maybe they'll fix that in 1.0.3.

Just bumping this thread because I haven't had this issue since updating to 1.1.3. Anyone else care to chime in with their experience since the update?

This issue drives me crazy, but I haven't used the update enough to say whether it's been fixed. Has the issue of the iPod app quitting while using Safari been fixed yet?

So far 1.1.3 seems to have taken core of it.

i concur with greenG4, at least in my use, that it appears that the core of the problem has been taken care of.
