i was hooked on carson when i was a kid...always tried to stay ip late enough to catch him.

also he is one of the few who, at the hight of their popularity, decided to bow out of public life...and stayed out

i will miss him but as he would say, "i'll be right back."

Wonder if they'll include my favourite blonde joke. When someone suggested she try a position other than doggy-style, she replied "What, and miss Johnny Carson?"

When I was a kid we had this little 4 or 5" B&W TV. I would sneak it into my room as often as I could to watch The Tonight Show. Carson was a genius, and it's a shame Letterman didn't replace him. Even Carson knew that Dave was better for the job.

My prayers go out to his family and friends. May he now rest in peace. A real class act. He knew when it was time to retire and kept to himself

I wasn't a big Carson fan while he was on; I didn't stay up late enough to watch late-night TV until the mid-80s, and by then I watched Carson mostly because I was waiting for Letterman to come on. Letterman had funnier comedy bits and more interesting guests, at least to a younger guy like me.

But I remember watching Carson's farewell shows in '92 and thinking wow, this guy is an institution. And I missed him when he was gone, especially when I saw how Leno's show paled in comparison.

In fact I just might go out and get me one of these on DVD.

Rest in peace Johnny.

funniest line on the tonight show...

a female guest had a cat in her lap, and asked, if carson wanted to pet the pussy...with a few beats, cason comes back with "move the cat then..."

or something like that...

The cat story is an urban legend; Carson himself said it never happened. Sorry!

Yeah, it seems that Carson episode is an urban legend.

OT- that urban legends site is odd. I wanted to see what they had to say about the Newlywed Game and the 'Up the Butt, Bob' clip. They got it right, it did happen. I've seen it unedited. The weird thing is they even have the clip but they bloop out the most important part. What's the point of blooping it out?
