I have a lamp like this one:

but the aluminum arm where the joint is broke off

Is there any way for this to get fixed? It most likely would need to get welded or something along those lines, but I'm clueless as to if someone (a shop?) can do this without making it very obvious that it broke off at that spot........

http://www.alumiweld.com/

^ would something like that work? (I would rather pay a professional to fix it rather than attempt it myself ... )

is it possible for something like this to get repaired? Or should I toss it?

any help would be awesome! thanks

If you want to be cheap, check out some JB Weld or Cold Weld stuff. It's basically an epoxy that works on metal. If done right, it could hold the lamp okay. IDK if it'd be worth it to have it professionally repaired.

Devcon makes an epoxy called 'Plastic Welder'

It is, however, rated excellent for bonding aluminium to itself (they use it on the Lotus Elise's chassis)

Welding would be a little insane, seeing as you need to find a shop with a plasma welder....and welding aluminium ain't easy either.

I think as long as the packaging specifies it will work on Aluminum you should be okay.

ON the bck of the package it will have what the epoxy is rated for.

Go for nothing less than an "excellent" rating for aluminum.

I've used this product for years.
It does require great skill to get the alloy to solder to the aluminium correctly.
A welding/fabrication shop may aluminum solder it up for $25 to free.
All men are created equal, but what they do after that point puts them on a sliding scale.

If the lamp is an original Artemide lamp, just don't. Let a professional do it.

It's a very nice design. If I hadn't one another nice lamp on my desk, I'd be tempted to get one
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

That is a beautiful Tolomeo lamp. I want to get a desk lamp myself. Replacement parts are available at the Artemide store. There is also a service center in LA.

You sir are a life saver! I bought the alumiweld, but I think I may hold off on that and buy a replacement part! Looks like it's going to cost me $100. My part is #5 I think......
