Jokes aside though, I feel like Apple has just sent iLife and iWord development into a 1.5 year time frame. If iLife and iWork are released alongside Leopard, when will be the next release? MWSF 2008? I doubt it. It could be released a full year later but that would be at an anticlimactic date. So will we have to wait until 2009 for the iLife and iWork after the upcoming one?

Not unless they charge extra for Leopard. They stopped shipping the OS with any iLife app (minus iTunes) starting with Tiger.

It is usually included on new Macs, but not with separate OS purchases.

Is it likely that the delay is because they're rewriting the suite as 64-bit apps to take full advantage of Leopard? Presumably releasing them before Leopard would therefore be out of the question?

I'm betting Leopard tie-ins for both iWork '07 and iLife '07.

FWIW, they said "stay tuned" for iLife '07 in the conference call.

Didn't Steve say "stay tuned" for 3GHz three years ago?
Words mean nothing.

Seeing how the OSX updates were originally every year and now with Leopard have drifted out to over 2 years, maybe we should expect the next releases to be iWorks & iLife 2008.
I have this niggling suspicion that Steve Jobs pre-announced both the Apple TV and iPhone to distract us all from failed deadlines on both the OS and apps.
"Stay tuned" and other such "announcements" from Apple achieve the expectation that something is actually going to be delivered, then can be used to later point out that they really said nothing.
So "stay tuned", "expect the world to change", "nothing will be the same", "avoid falling pianos" etc etc.
If Nostradamus were alive today he'd be doing Apple's product announcements.

Maybe it'll become like MS Office, and update every 3-5 years.
