After installing Mac OS 9.1, I noticed that the old Notepad desk accessory has been removed. I checked the Installer Logs and it verified this.
Doing a search using Sherlock yielded a new Notepad application, although in Java archive format.
What in the world?!? Does Apple want me to have to run Java for Notepad? Talk about simplicity! The Java overhead in Mac OS 9.x is way too much for a simple notepad app I need.
Is there any way for me to recover my old Notepad app, save from copying it off my Mac OS 9 CD or undeleting it?

Copy from another comp. Easy
Fourth thing I did after installing 9.1
(After renaming Applications, moving Apple Extras, and unlocking both).

Hmm.....
I don't have a Notepad on MacOS 9.0.4 - not something to blame on MacOS 9.1 specifically I think :-)

Did you check your Apple extras folder. I am not sure as it could be on your HD>Apllications(OS9.1)>Apple Extras? Things got shifted and consilidated in OS 9.1. Just poke around

Mine was in the extras folder. I remember the same thing happening when originally upgrading to OS 9. I like the original notepad. Its a good application to use as a scratch pad, and its small and fast...
