When I leave work in the evening, I just leave all my apps running. In the morning, when I try and launch a Word or Excel file, it always immediately crashes the program and I need to force quit. When I next open the file, I get the 'your file is corrupted, shall I attempt to recover it' message. I reply 'no' and the file opens fine anyway.

During the day, these programs work OK.

So, something about Word and Excel running without anything to do for many hours, or something about running overnight is causing the programs to crash. Could this be the cron jobs - although I thought these did not run overnight with Tiger.

Any thoughts? Mac OS 10.4.2 and Office 2004. Cheers.

I have found that if I leave Word or Excel as the front-most application when the computer goes to sleep, then I have problems. If I make the Finder the active application, then it doesn't seen to cause any problems.

Office 2004 on 10.3.9.
Ignore the argumentative nature of this poster. He is old and can't engage in meaningful dialog

Same problem here with Office 2004 on 10.4.2. If Word or Excel is active when the Mac goes to sleep, I have to force-quit the app after waking.
I do not like those green links and spam.
I do not like them, Sam I am.
