The only updater I am able to find (for a coworker without a Mac) is one one that is now built into iTunes.

It refuses to update the firmware in his iPod. It either says there was an error, or it just shows a continuous progress bar.

iTunes also is having a difficult time recognizing the iPod without screwing around with the iPodservice.

Finally, is there any way to change the name of your iPod after you initially set it up (in Windows)?

Here's the WINDOWS updater.

You probably need to reload the Windows iPod driver, too. That should be part of what the updater does... But you might try reloading iTunes too.

The iPod's name is in one of the options for setup-I forget where-in the device itself.

Thanks, ghporter.

Is this the same version of the iPod software that iTunes 7 is trying to install? iTunes was trying to install version 1.2 (it is the 30GB with video).

Thanks!

I don't know what version iTunes 7 tried to install, but that's the latest Windows updater I could find.

That version is 1.1, so I don't think that will help.

Is it? It was dated June of 2006... That's what I was going by.

I was thinking that the June 2006 date made it seem too old. Since iTunes 7 just came out, the date should have been Sept. 2006, right?

Version 1.2 just came out with iTunes 7, so yeah. That would be too old.
