Pllllllease help me someone!

Every program I try to run on my G5 is crashing before it even stops bouncing in the dock if it is trying to connect to the internet. This includes Safari, Software Update, Adium... whatever. It all crashes.

Any ideas?

Need more info? I don't know specifically what to put up here that might help, but if you give me an idea of what I should post I will. Thanks!
maybe you've been brainwashed too.

Seems like one of the shared libs included with the OS is missing or corrupt. Can happen if you launch a new application while Software Update is doing it's "Optimizing..." bit - a recently discovered bug that Apple hasn't got around to yet. Archive and Reinstall from the original discs is your best bet.

BTW, this question is probably better suited to the Mac OS X forum.

Hi mattsgotredhair,

Were you ever able to successfully launch Safari or the other apps and is this a new problem? Do you know of anything or any changes you may have made prior to this becoming a big issue?

If you disconnect your G5 from the router can you launch any of the above apps?

First off the bat is to launch Disc Utility and repair Permissions and repair your HD ...

MacintoshHD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Disc Utility (or just press Command + U to launch the Utilities Folder)

If there are any Disc errors found you need to pop your original install disc in and reboot, pressing the "C" key when you hear the Startup Chime ...

Are you connected to the router via ethernet or wireless? Dial-Up or Broadband?
