Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia.
What's yours?
I love Ben & Jerry's. I always feel guilty eating it, but nothing else is as good I don't think. At least not commercial brands.

Haagen Dazs Dark Chocolate-Dipped Chocolate Ice Cream Bars.
The Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk is also pretty good.

That's too bad, Peter.
I know all about tooth pain - had to have a molar ground down and crowned last year and it was painful and very expensive even despite dental insurance.

Any ice cream with texture is one that I love. It has to have stuff in it. Chocolate chunks for example. Nuts, any kind, are preferred.

Mint chocolate chip for the creamy American variety.
Otherwise gimme a nice gelato - not necessarily menta or stracciatella though.

I don't really eat ice cream - I just like to eat the stuff out of it.
Like Cherry Garcia. I like to eat the cherries out of it and the rest of it I toss.
Same thing with any ice cream with nuts in it...just eat the pecans or the walnuts and don't care about the rest. My family hates it because I ruin ice cream by doing that, but I can't help it.

Any variety of chocolate chip cookie dough. The more dough, the better. I'm not a huge fan of chocolate ice cream, generally speaking.

Local places that serve fresh ice cream are, IMHO, better than the pints you buy at a grocery store... As to which local joint I like the most, it depends on my tastes at that moment.
Is there a national chain of restaurants serving nothing but ice cream? Do you guys have Jiffy Treat, Brusters, Baskin Robbins, Coldstone Creamery, Maggy Moos? I suspect that the closest to a national chain might be Baskin Robbins, although I'm not familiar with their ice cream.
I suppose Dairy Queen might qualify as a national ice cream chain, but I find that their stuff tastes like ass.

I want to believe this, but I find that they're almost universally too sweet. I'll end up back with the good ol' Häggen-Dazs.
Ben & Jerry's used to be superior, but damn, the last couple years I've regretted it each time I bought a pint.

I love Ice Cream... but my favorite would be Taro........
And I don't mean Taro flavored.. but one's made from Taro.
You can get them in Taiwan (only place I've seen them).
Evidently, from what I've been told: When the Nationalist first fled to Taiwan from China way back in the 40's, the economy was so bad that they didn't even have "cream" to make ice cream (or it was just too expensive). So they used taro instead. It has this really smooth consistency... but man is it addicting.
I heard this from my mom. Not sure if its true.. or one of those "when I was your age...." stories.
You have to like taro though (duh).

I don't care if it is Haagen Daz, Baskin Robbins or Wilcoxen's - I LOVE this kind of ice cream. Something about chocolate and peanut butter that is perfect, plus the frozen bands of peanut butter are soooooooo good.

The best part of homemade ice cream is the control, though; you can very easily make superior-tasting ice cream that is healthy: i.e. frozen yogurt (I use homemade yogurt for this, too) or gelato.

Ben & Jerry's Wavy Gravy (I used to LOVE Rainforest Crunch) and Pignolata (which is basically chocolate ice-cream with this pastry mixed in).

Schwans Raspberry Rumble, good stuff! Plus they bring it to my door :-)
The ultimate raspberry experience. We start with our famous Schwan’s vanilla ice cream, add a velvety raspberry ribbon, mix in raspberry crumbles, then add the final crowning glory: raspberry-filled chocolate truffles.

The best. I just wish there were a few more cherries in there.
FYI: The cookie dough has almost NO chunks of cookie dough. I felt betrayed and used after digging through an entire pint to get a few measly chunks of dough.
