Shazam's iPhone app got an update on Thursday that brings the Auto Shazam function already present in the iPad version to Apple's bestselling smartphone. Now, Shazam continuously recognizes popular music and television playing around a user, even when the phone is locked or when a user leaves the Shazam app. When a user activates the app, it will then display what it has most recently tagged.
When a device is asleep and Shazam recognizes a track, it will temporarily wake the display in order to show the tagged song or content. In addition to Auto Shazam, version 7.3.0 adds the ability to share Shazam Tags with friends on WhatsApp, as well as to pin Shazam tags to Pinterest boards. Users can also share Shazam tags via iMessage.
Shazam version 7.3.0 is available as a
free download from the iOS App Store. The 28.2MB download requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod running iOS 6.0 or higher.
MyGlass Google Glass app returns to App Store
After a
brief appearance and then disappearance from the App Store, Google's
MyGlass for iOS has returned to Apple's app repository. The app allows users to sync their iPhones or Wi-Fi+Cellular iPads to their Google Glass devices. They can set up a device, screencast what is seen through the Glass to an iPhone or iPad, and add Glassware and contacts through the app.
"If you don't have Glass," the app's description reads, "then downloading this will be a waste of time. Sorry about that. Learn more at google.com/glass."
The app is available as a
free download through the App Store. The 15.2 MB MyGlass download requires an iPhone or an iPad with a cellular connection. It also requires that a device run iOS 7.0 or later.
