I am just so excited, that I felt I had to share this with you guys. Alright, bought a Master Replicas Force FX Lightsaber. For those of you who aren't familiar with this, do a google search. (Make sure to type in: Force FX Lightsaber) or else you'll get varied results. Anyhow, picjed it up at Futureshop. WOW, amazing. Bright as heck and hums and swiped and makes all the official sound effects depending on how fast you swing it. I was wondering if anyone else actually owns one of these. I will be posting pictures soon, maybe video (via external link).

They sell these in China, very expensive though, might have trouble explaining why I need it.
How much was yours?

I've seen one of these. AWESOME. The best lightsaber out there. I've played with one. It's awesome. I wish I could afford one. My Mac takes priority at the moment though.

They look cool but I think of when contemplating such things.

I think it'd be cool if for just one year, we quit building satellites and tanks and bombers, and spent all our money on developing real working light sabre. That would be pretty badass.
2 major hurdles:
1. How to get the beam to stop. I was thinking of a very small wire with a reflector on the end? I don't know.
2. The beam has to be VERY VERY hot in order to cut things....how does the heat not transfer to the METAL handle? Maybe they should use porcelain instead... just don't drop it.

HowStuffWorks actually has a neat little article on Lightsabers.
(Someone here asked how to regulate the length of the blade .... it's in there.)

From ThinkGeek's store, for this lightsabre: http://www.thinkgeek.com/cubegoodies/toys/69de/
Sure fear might lead to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering. But a quicker path to suffering includes not getting one of these striking Lightsabers!

how tough are they? as in, if you were bashing the buggery out of each other with a mate who has one of these as well, would they stand up to it or collapse in a heap?
not that i'm thinking of getting one or anything.

I saw some staff playing with a few at BestBuy the other day; they didn't look solid enough for "bashing"

also getting enough power for that thing... it would definately have to have some special batteries.
