No, not the Phantom Menace again.

Had to have a tooth pulled at the dentist.....in China.

Pumped my face full of lidocaine, the lady was pulling on the tooth and waggling it around like crazy, this strange crunching sound was coming from my head. She had to take five breaks before giving up and going to get a male dentist. This guy took a more technical way around things and attempted leverage (he obviously failed mechanics). No luck with that, has also ripped up the inside of my face to shreds with his Chinese mechanical "inventions". Anyway he finally pulled it out in a shower of blood after upgrading his pliers 3 times. By this time it was 5PM (appointment started at 3PM) and the lidocaine has completely run dry..... it hurt.. the hole was so big they had to stitch it up.

Anyway, the kindly gave me 4 Paracetamol on the way out, which I thought was funny.

Any way due to my the lack of Lidocaine, Novacaine or any other caine, i'm going to be drinking a lot of whisky tonight.

Anyone who wants to see the tooth click below, its not pretty.

None of us really care you know. Look after your teeth and avoid further "pain" ...on second note, WDLove might care.

Yikes! How about the hole they left behind? Sounds like a really bad experience. I'm guessing you wont be going back there in the future...

As much as I don't like dentists, I dislike the needles more. When the need to fill a cavity arises I always ask she does it without anesthetics, cause I hate the needle.

They had to stitch the hole up, I don't think it was a bad dentist, just bad luck. The tooth had three roots that were very spread out, they really just did their job.

If it's any conselation, when I was 10 I was held down by over 4 (possibly 5 or 6) dentists while they pulled my decayed teeth out at a student dentist training facility.

Why the hell didn't you go to one of the international dentists? There's got to be loads of them in Shanghai.

Thats too easy, but I want to experience China!
I don't want to be one of those expat observers who marvels at China from beind the tinted windows of his chauffeured Buick. This is my China experience!

Only joking, it was a very expensive dentist with Singaporean staff, I made it out that it was grim and sordid, but in reality they had the kind of dental equipment most American or European dentists would love to have (panoramic exrays, goldfish in the roof etc). Unfortunately they didn't have the muscle for my european teeth.

All the fancy equipment in the world won't help a lumberjack be a better dentist

OMG!! I feel your pain. Don't know about China, but Japanese doctors were – ahem – not really trustworthy to me. Especially after hearing stories from friends who were studying medicine. I hope you'll get better. And stay away from those funny doctors

Yeah, three hours of hell was what it felt like at the time.
Three hours is only three hours.

I am still alive and having a very cool life, so I can't complain.

In Honduras, the dentist with our medical team could shuck teeth like oysters.

He could have 4 out in 20 seconds after 10 years of pulling 500 a day he was quite the expert.

Nice picture, thank you for sharing. They didn't give you a prescription for the pain?

At least now it's over.

Actually I still have the pain, the Paracetamol didn't really help with that.

Sympathy is the best drug of all.... just got off phone to girlfriend.
She was upset she was not present for the "Birth".

The story cheered me up, having not having to undergo anything similar recently.

Thanks.

I have an idea. Let's start a dental fund for moonmonkey. The fund will also include round-trip paid airfare. This is so that moonmonkey can have quality dental care in the United States.

I don't think an intravenous drip would have helped with my bad tooth.

No. English people have the worst. At least the Chinese have an excuse: Their government and system. What excuses do the English have? None. They are supposedly one of the world's superpower governments with advanced medicine, remember?

Set up a Paypal account for moonmonkey. I'll donate.

The only stipulation is a full frontal dental shot - before and after - so that we can see what our funds are going towards.

This is fantastic, your double post means another 200USD added to the fund, the means I can now travel to the capital city of the USA Florida and undertake my necessary dental surgery.

God bless you!

We await final payment, any delays over seven days will lead to the debt being passed to a legal appointed debt administration company which by under United States statutes has the right to forcefully seize property to value of said amounts.

Yeah, and ALL Americans are a bunch of fat f*ckers.

I have dental check up every six months. I'm in and out in two minutes. Most people I know are the same.

Sorry to hear about your tooth ordeal moonmonkey

Sweet story.

When I had my teeth pulled like 6 years ago they gave me some laughing gas. I had a nice dream about a snake bitting me, injecting its venom in my gums and then using a Robogrip to break my teeth into a million pieces.
