I need to scan in 12 x 12 scrapebook album pages to use in an iMovie slideshow.

My scanner only does 8.5 x 11.7

Is there a commercial place (like kinkos that can do this)

Should I divide the pages in half and the connect?

or

Could I take a high resolution photo of the pages with a digital camera?
I am getting a Canon Digital Rebel.

Thanks for the help and advice.

i would try the digital picture and see what you get. shoot it in indirect sunlight and try to avoid glare.

if that fails try scanning the image in two pieces and putting it back together in photoshop.

under no circumstances would i go to kinko's. kinko's is staffed by complete morons and will undoubtedly over charge you for doing a poor job.

iMovie only requires a low resolution to give great video results. Do the digital camera pic and see if you get suitable results. Many of the larger megapixel cameras are now capable of taking shots that will enlarge fairly well.

If you plan on zooming in on a section and the digital camera doesn't have the resolution, take an actual photo with a 35mm and scan the print at a higher resolution.

Video can be very forgiving because of its relatively low resolution.

Thank you both for your advice.

I am getting the Digital Rebel either this weekend or Monday and will try the camera first.

I am hoping that works because I am not sure how successful I would be at putting the scanned pictures together.

Right, reconnecting pictures is problematic.

Another hard option: 11x17 scanners are > $2000

Digital camera option is the best one, I guess!
