I changed some of my icons in the finder sidebar a while ago via "get info" then pasting the new icon over the old one in the info window.

I have just installed Candybar to change my icons but it is unable to change the icons of the folders I changed using the "get info" method.

Is there any way to remedy this? Where are the default OS X icons kept?

Thanks

Select 'restore default icons' while in Candybar first?

Repairing permissions has always solved stuck icons for me (though I never do it because of that, it just happens to solve it if I have one at the time).

That may work, but you don't really need to do anything nearly that involved. Just go back to the Info window for the folders in question and cut the icons away using the Cut command (Cmd-X), and the original icons will be restored.

thanks guys! I've had some problems with this before, but I never thought it would be that simple!

osx really is quite intuitive.
