While I'm thinking about it, I don't think there's an OS X port of Strategic Conquest yet either. There needs to be one of those.

AAARGH! I've just made my first double post. I should be drawn and quartered. Or at least given a good verbal reprimand. Well, I'm off to hang my head in shame and think about the sorry state to which my life has come (Florida?).

DeusEx_MP_Update.sit-binhex.hqx [46.92 MiB]
You need to modify your DeusEx.ini file so that the game will run in OpenGL. Make a backup copy of your DeusEx.ini, and add these lines to your DeusEx.ini (The following section already exists in the DeusEx.ini, so just add the lines that are not already there.):
[OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice]
Translucency=True
VolumetricLighting=True
ShinySurfaces=True
Coronas=True
HighDetailActors=True
DetailTextures=True
MinLogTextureSize=0
MaxLogTextureSize=10
MaxLogUOverV=10
MaxLogVOverU=10
UseMultiTexture=1
Texture32Bit=1
DoPreCache=0
DescFlags=0
Description=
DetailTextures=True
And change the "GameRenderDevice" line in the [Engine.Engine] section from:
GameRenderDevice=RaveDrv.RaveRenderDevice
to
GameRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice

yes, like UT and some others it was done on the dev's own time and is kinda incomplete. I have successfully played some games of it, but it runs just fine in classic.
MOO 2
RailRoad Tycoon 2

You can play the original Unreal using the UT engine. I believe the mod called "Old Skool" would still work in the OSX UT version. Here's the web site.

Seconded. Air Combat was my favorite flight sim. The DOS version used to run reasonably well under VPC 4.
Some other games I'd love to play in OS X are:
Ancient Art of War
Armor Alley
Shufflepuck Cafe
DS9: The Fallen
Dues Ex

VETTE! (the first game I owned that didn't fit on one floppy)
Prince of Persia (I love these kind of games)
SimEarth
SimAnt
And my favorite:
RobotSport
I LOVED RoboSport. I'd play it now if I could get it to run under Basilisk or some other emulator. Someone should update it for OSX and sell it.

Agreed. another vote for Unreal - I haven't found a game on OS X that I could get into like I did with Unreal on OS 9.

This is great an all to see all of these games listed, but is this thread just asking the question? Or is it going somewhere? Is the person who asked this a developer and wondering which games to port over?
Just wondering.
Thanks

I used to play hours upon hours of MacPro Football. I'd love someone to recreate that game!
Anyone else play that game? It used to generate very realistic stats, in later versions you could trade players around, etc... Graphics were comical, but the gameplay realism was very high.

Clock up another one for Warcraft II. Put VETTE! alongside that - curiously I have been thinking about that game recently; easily the best non-console car racing game I've seen . Of course it would have to be made to run in more than 16 colours for a start!
Also Warlords I & II - I'm always a bit surprised that no one mentions them. The only turn-based strategy games I've ever really played much, and great fun with it!

LOL! Thanks for that.. I had a quick go and sure enough it works! But sure does seem crap now compared to the modern games we have these days. Marathon seemed great back in the day tho..

Don't these run under Classic already? Gotta dig out my archived floppy copies and give it a shot...
I thought we were talking more about games that absolutely do not run on OS X even with Classic support.
Cheers.

Try this for sports:
http://www.vogelproducties.nl/tim-map/tim.html
You can find new texture packs for Marathon 1, 2 and 3 - essentially high res of the old ones, improved sounds and stuff. If you got a decent graphics card and a G4 or G5, you can make old Marathon look pretty darn decent

Warlords 2 is one of my all-time favorites. It runs perfectly under classic, though, so there's probably no point in carbonizing.
I would like Warlords 3 for OS X though...

ok I downloaded zoom, so I could run games written in zcode. I downloaded the mac version of zork, which is a classic file, add extension z5 and it runs in zoom, but still shows up as a classic file, how can I make this associated with zoom and not with classic?

Just so you know... there IS a OS X version of Camageddon 2. You just have to know where to look.
* Edit: I don't support piracy. I own the PC version which I used to play on an old PC. I nearly wept with joy when I saw the port.

Horseshit!!! Prove that it exists...a screenshot of the game running in a window (if possible) or the folder/icons of the port.

What? I own Carmageddon II for Mac, so would using said OS X version be considered piracy? How does it run? I thought there were problems in getting RAVE mode to work in OS X since RAVE isn't supported?
Oh, and an OS X version of driver would be nice.

You got it... give me a little while to install the game again and save some screens.
*edit: You know what... I thought it was for OSX but actually it's for OS 9, but running it under classic works fine. I'll be back with a few screen shots in a few minutes.

Okay I'm back.... I got the screenshots optimized for the web, hopefully this won't kill my bandwidth on my photo host. I tried to get it to run in window mode but I couldn't find it.
SO here are some shots:
Start screen
Menu
Load Screen
Go!!!
Super Jump!
Ouch!
Well there you go! Hopefully they work...

Ok but this thread is about games *ported* and running *native* in OS X...games running in Classic isn't what we're looking for.
Too bad this was a false alert. I really wanted to be proven wrong.
