I did an Erase and Install of Leopard on my MacBook earlier today. The install went just fine, and afterwards I plugged in my external drive to start copying files. After a couple of hours I was done and ejected the drive. I just noticed that when try and do a search in Spotlight from the menu bar nothing happens at all, but searches from a Finder window work fine. I forced Spotlight to reindex the internal drive (sudo mdutil -E /), but that didn't solve the problem.
I suspect it may have something to do with the external drive, it was a bootable backup made with CCC, and while it wasn't connected during the install process it was hooked up for the first couple of hours, probably while Spotlight was still indexing.
Any thoughts? TIA
