Just did the first bit with the guy in the hoodie running around, windows popped up of the birds flying around and google map and streetview images of the place I said I lived. Nice job.

PS. I did this in Safari and it still worked.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

More musical tech stuff - Aphex Twin face mapping himself onto people in the crowd and projecting it on the screens at a gig. (lots of strobe lights and loudness in the video).

Well, that was lame. I live in an area surrounded by wood sand trees. It completely missed showing my house.

Fail.

Cool tech demo. But yeah, 100% cpu usage and stuttering on an 8-core macpro. I'm sure Gruber creamed his apple branded thong.

Runs like butter on Safari 5.0.1 on my new 27" iMac. But then again, so does full res Mafia 2 so I shouldn't really be surprised

Anyone else not terribly impressed by it? Ooo they overlaid google maps with some basic video of silhouetted birds? It felt more like a tech demo than a music video.

Ran just fine on my 13" MacBook from 2 years ago. Maybe it just needs tons of RAM? (I have 4GB.)

You guys are jaded...

This is an HTML5 demo, not just eye candy or an attempt to make a cool video. You can read about all of the HTML5 specific stuff this demo incorporates: Chrome Experiments - Arcade Fire . The design choices that were made were made to feature the above new capabilities, not to make this a great music video. Some of these capabilities are interesting or exciting, this demo does a good job showcasing this, which is the point of it.

As far as the CPU usage goes, I think some of you need to learn how to analyze CPU usage numbers - 100% usage is not necessarily a bad thing. The stuttering I can't account for though, although with the Google Maps parts of the video I would think that part of that blame rests on the Google Maps engine.
