Well the posters at MacRumors had some fun with a typo (which they've since fixed):
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads...opers.2123916/

Apparently people were looking forward to "Apple News, Socks, Home"

Nice for a 30-second chuckle.

I did not want to create a whole thread for this, but, the latest Pages update supporting LaTeX is a very big deal for me. I teach basic math and I am thinking about moving away from handwritten notes (which I seem to need to rewrite every few years anyway, which is a major pain because I can't just rearrange stuff), and the ability to sync my notes to all of my devices is a huge plus. Actually for that reason I was thinking of getting one of Apple's newer education iPads to supplement with my iPhone X and Mac to edit on the go and read/edit notes during class. For $299, the iPad price is right, so, what do you think? Or should I just continue to use my iPhone X?

Edit: Well it looks like it won't do arrays, e.g., to get a big left curly brace using \left\{ \begin{array}{l} stuff \end{array}\right. only basic stuff.

Gotta admit I've never heard of Amazon delivering on a Sunday (I selected their basic Free Shipping, non-Prime).

Also got a steal on an ANKER wireless charger w/adapter included, so I'll check that out later.

It's annoying to me that they'll deliver on a Sunday, but if I order something "Prime" on a Thursday morning they think it's okay to deliver it the following Tuesday and that still counts as Prime.

Sunday rolled out here about 4 or 5 years ago. It was a bit of a mess.

I was using one of those places where you send all your packages and they deliver to you when you’re home in the evening.

They were open on Sunday, in the sense they would deliver to you, but weren’t expecting to need someone there at 9 in the morning to receive packages.

No more places that deliver to me anymore, so I use a PO box at the UPS store. Since I have to actually drag my ass out there to get stuff, that adds enough of a delay I’ve lost track of how prompt Prime is.

Internet gaming is a mental disorder

Although to be fair, This 10-year-old boy, who is addicted to World of Warcraft, needs bowel surgery after parents let him play for 8-hour binges without going to the toilet

And included with the International Classification of Diseases:
Sex addiction is officially a mental illness

And in environmental news:
The City of Seattle and many major corps including Starbucks and American Airlines are getting rid of plastic straws.

Er, yeah — it can be qualified as a mental disorder in exactly the same way that drinking beer may qualify as a mental disorder.

You may not be aware of it, but: Addictions are kinda real, and addictive behaviour patterns aren’t a function of the particular substance/tool used to execute them.

Starbucks and American Airlines are getting rid of plastic straws.
Corporations finally banning plastic straws seems “ridiculous” to you? Have you had your head stuck in a dead sea tortoise’s shell for the past few years to be so out of the loop?

Video gaming as a classified addiction IS ridiculous. I played tons of video games growing up (Tetris, Super Mario, Zelda, various racing games), and I built A LOT of 3D spatial reasonability ability from it to help me visualize and understand complex problems.

I never said that. It was just something random and interesting to post.

You assumed (FALSELY) that everything that I posted in much of this thread fell under the general scope of ridiculous. Did you ever take a moment to question your assumption that maybe some of the stuff that I post is just random, or cool, or interesting, but doesn't really need its own huge thread?

The fact that you are not addicted to video games does not mean others cannot be.

It's ok to start new threads for new topics. It might get more attention that way. I'd be interested in a recycling thread, lots of buzz about these straws.

As per the thread title: no, it did not occur to me.

Apologies for assuming that you were being on-topic.

Again: given the context of this thread, it seemed like an exceedingly stupid thing to post.

If that’s a serious question, I’d imagine it’s similar to taking a cat’s temperature. You double-team it.

Haven’t been looking at stock prices, but I’d say early this year was when people started to put his “unbridled optimism” about Tesla’s manufacturing capacity into the “lies” category.

However, that was business. The last couple days have been personal.
