It's possible to change it, but no engineer at Apple will tell me how they do it.

All I know is that the audio file is in the "firmware". How it is navigated and changed, I have no idea, but I'm certain it can be done. Why not?

Try these..

I don't mind the bong but it is always loud on my MDD, unless I have the sound muted. Now I have a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter in the headphone jack, which silences the computer.

It is impossible.

The only reason the info on changing the sound is "secret" is that only Apple knows how to do it.

Yes, some people have tried or are trying, but searching the web or looking at the previously linked web pages isn't going to yield a "secret method."

Trust me, the moment someone were to figure out a way to do it, it would be ALL OVER the mainstream Macintosh web sites (MacNN, MacMinute, Macintouch, etc.)

I'm pretty sure this is hard coded into the lowest levels of boot ROM so I really doubt you can change it. If it was in some sort of editable firmware it'd be very dangerous to modify anyway (like the boot screen hack).
