Thanks to many of your suggestions and bug reports, Barquee 1.1 is out:

http://www.fourminutemilesoftware.com/barquee/

Here are the changes:

- Right click anywhere on Barquee to access the menu
- Expanded character-set for French, Portuguese, ect. (Unicode support progressing)
- Install themes simply by double clicking theme, no more manual copying required
- Fast forward/Rewind by holding Next/Last track hotkeys
- Location controller automatically hides after a few seconds
- Various smaller bug fixes and optimizations

Cool but…
Version in the Info still says 1.0
It forgot my hotkeys for next track and last track but still knew play/pause track
right click anywhere for menu doesn´t work, it´s still on the 3 buttons

another feature request,
scroll when cursor is over Barquee too.

Well clearly for some reason it didn't upgrade to 1.1. Try re-running the installer.

I'll add that feature.

Well it seems to be 1.1 as it has this feature: Location controller automatically hides after a few seconds
And checking for update give me the dialog saying: "Your version of Barquee (version 1.1) is up to date."
Just in the file Info in Finder it says 1.0

This is the first time I'm seeing this program. Why didn't I know about this sooner? I'll have to try this for a few days.

First time I've tried this program and so far the best unobtrusive iTunes controller I've used yet! The ability to customize the font might seem trivial to some, but is really some very good icing on the cake! I'm also impressed with the use of Apple events only instead of relying on Apple scripts. The only thing I'd suggest is a way to change playlists. That was probably the first I noticed I'd have to go to iTunes to do. Even if it is just a hot key that scrolls through your playlists. I'm not sure if that is possible through Apple events or iTunes plugin API but a suggestion nonetheless. Awesome program!

#1 Is it at all possible to have it be a real MenuExtra, so that you can command+clcik and change the position on it? I'd buy it for just that functionality. You can make the "option" button switch to the progress bar (which seems like what it should be anyway).

#2 The appearance is a little messed up, but I am assuming that is because I am using aqua Extreme package installer and not the Tiger appearance. Anyway to just make it aliased so it doesn't matter what background you are using?

Cheers, this is great software.

Would it be possible that the Barquee hotkeys work in fullscreen apps (like games) too?

I think Apple is the only one who knows how to do this. Correct me if I'm wrong but, I've never seen any third party menu extra have a command-click movable interface.

Menu Meters, GeekTool, Change Desktop (using a MenuCracker) and there are more…

Yes, but those are not true menu extras I believe. They rely on a hack to emulate a real menu extra. For whatever reason, just like the GUI, Apple locked down menu extras. Perhaps the only thing I wish Apple would do is open up the OS a bit.

Are we going to see an update to this anytime soon? I've been waiting for the popularly requested features (unicode, etc.) plus the new iTunes 5 breaks parts of it.

What does iTunes 5 break in Barquee?

I got a new Mac on Monday I took only the most important prefs etc. over so I reconfigured Barquee like I want it but the rating stars are very small now. Anyone had this already?

iTunes 5 breaks Barquee's ability to tell remaining time, etc. (I haven't tried trashing prefs/reinstalling or anything).
