Haven't gotten a lot of positive feedback for sharing these Mac-related sweeps as I've found them, which is fine if people just aren't interested in them. So this'll probably be the last "batch" of sweeps I'll post. If you'd like me to continue posting them, please let me know publicly or privately and I'll continue to share them when I find them. If not, no big.

Both of these are for 20 gig iPods.

from Daniel Bedingfield and Artists Direct
http://events.artistdirect.com/dbedingfield/
Deadline: October 7
1 entry per person

from Bon Jovi and Island Def Jam
http://www.islandrecords.com/www2/contest/bonjovi_ipod/
Deadline: October 5
1 entry per person

FWIW, I find as long as I only enter sweeps that seem legitimate (In other words: no "Super Duper Lotto Guaranteed Winnings Just Send Your Social Security Number and Bank Account Number and You Get a Prize"), I don't get much spam. And what mail I do get from the sweeps is easy to opt out of. I use a Yahoo account which I don't use for much "real" stuff when signing up for them or for requsting info from certain sites just in case. YMMV.

Enjoy and good luck.

Alex.

Why? It'd be like winning a free coaster.

Does the windows iPod work with the Mac? If it does, why would there be a Mac version and a Windoes compatible version, instead of just: iPod compatible with anything with a FireWire I/O?
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

i think the windows ipods differ only in their software and firewire cord. the ipod itself is the same as the mac version so it should work fine.

Why do PeeCees have a different FireWire plug than Macs? What kind of an EvilPlot is that?

er, somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the hard drives were formatted differently. Sort of like how you can't stick a PC-formatted HD into a mac and read the data off of it without special software. Or does the system thingy that allows me to read PC floppies allow me to read PC hard drives as well?

(Of course, I don't have an iPod, a PC, or, for that matter, even a firewire card, so I could be wrong here.)

the 4pin and 6pin plugs are both 'real' firewire plugs, the 6pin have power, the 4pin don't. you can buy adapters to convert between one to the other.

I think the difference in Windows iPod and Mac iPod is the hard drive format and software. Windows iPods have a FAT32 formatted drive and Musicmatch Jukebox, Mac iPods have a HFS formatted drive and iTunes.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

From what I have heard, Windows iPods do work on the Mac, regardless of what Apple says.

This is correct, and Apple supports it. The different versions are formated differently (FAT32 for Windows, NFS+ for Mac).

So to be perfectly clear:
You cannot use a Mac iPod on Windows, but you can use the Windows iPod on Mac (the iPod software just formats the drive for Mac).
