I was given a "logitech" laser mouse but when I attach it to my keyboard, it works well...UNTIL...I restart!
I have to put my original mouse back on to start machine, then switch to my new mouse!
Any ideas?

If you haven't already done it, download the driver software from logitech's web site. Also after you reboot, try unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in. That should cause you mac to load the default drivers until you get the specific ones from Logitech. If the mouse that you were given has more than one button and/or a scroll wheel you'll be able to program them to perform other functions.

G4ME, we don't know what version of the MacOS our friend red_shoes is using, so I gave directions that would be worth trying in both. Two button mice with scroll wheels are natively supported in X, but you still need to download drivers from the manufacturer to enable the button programming features in both 9 and X.
