1) Briefly explain the scenario described in the song "Stay".
2) What is the significance of Battersea Station to the band members of Pink Floyd?
3) What was Syd Barrett's *real* first name? (hint: it wasn't Sydney nor Syd) Extra points for his real middle name, too.
4) In the movie "The Wall" what brand of champagne did the groupie chick have upon entering Pink's trailer?
5) What is "Seamus"?
6) What is "Gerald"?
7) Who performed the vocals on "The Great Gig in the Sky" (original album version)?
8) What popular 1939 film allegedly synchronizes almost perfectly with the "Dark Side of the Moon" album?
9) Which member has performed on *all* of Pink Floyd's albums?
10) From the song "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" - what is Alan's real life last name? (hint: it isn't me)
A $20 iTunes gift certificate will be emailed to the 1st person to correctly answer all 10 questions - to my satisfaction.

1) Briefly explain the scenario described in the song "Stay".
Never heard of this song.
2) What is the significance of Battersea Station to the band members of Pink Floyd?
uh, that's probably on the cover of Animals.
3) What was Syd Barrett's *real* first name? (hint: it wasn't Sydney nor Syd) Extra points for his real middle name, too.
Roger.
4) In the movie "The Wall" what brand of champagne did the groupie chick have upon entering Pink's trailer?
Yeah, and what's the combination to Capt. Kirk's safe?
5) What is "Seamus"?
A song from Meddle (the oldest Floyd album worth owning). Oh, and a dog.
6) What is "Gerald"?
A man's name?
7) Who performed the vocals on "The Great Gig in the Sky" (original album version)?
Clare Torry.
8) What popular 1939 film allegedly synchronizes almost perfectly with the "Dark Side of the Moon" album?
Wizard of Oz. What do you call people of believe this? Morons.
9) Which member has performed on *all* of Pink Floyd's albums?
Officially, Nick Mason. However, it's well know that other drummers can be heard on many tracks from The Wall, The Final Cut, and A Momentary Lapse of Reason.
10) From the song "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" - what is Alan's real life last name? (hint: it isn't me)
I can't even tell you what album that song is from.
Here's a tough one: who sang lead vocals on "Have a Cigar" ??

Ah, come on! Atom Heart Mother, an album older than Meddle that is very much worth owning.
That said, I can't answer many of those. Some real obscure questions you got there.

All of the questions except #4 can be answered via an internet search.
Number 4 can be answered by viewing the movie, lucky guess, or from memory if you've watched it as many times as I have.
Any reasonable Pink Floyd fan should be able to get at least half of the answers correct without researching anything.
Admittedly, "Stay" is a rather obscure song, but it contains few lyrics - and their meaning is clear. It is also my favorite song

I've definitely done the Wizard of Oz thing and it's a blast, FWIW. Who cares if it's on purpose or not.

I admit Obscured by Clouds is not one of my more-listened to Floyd albums, so I wasn't really familiar with Stay. Just gave it another listen. Was it about a one-night stand or something similar? Drinking and sleeping with someone?

Here's one that I discovered with a buddy once: The Wall begins with part of a phrase, and ends with a part. What is the phrase?

Isn't it from combining the names of two jazz or blues artists that influenced them?
Edit: already posted the answer, but it wasn't there when I started typing this, I swear!

excellent.
That was a tough one.
Most Floyd fans aren't familiar with the older stuff.
Who's gonna win this game?
A member (Brien) sent me 8 correct answers via PM. One of the 2 he missed was this one.
Now he knows 9 correct answers.
Right now he's probably watching 'The Wall' and trying to see what that brand of champagne was..

I thought Gerald the mouse was one of the easiest ones. With the other Wall movie questions I certainly didn't think you were speaking of Gerald Scarfe, the man who did the animations for the movie.

Pink Floyd trivia?
If you have to think about it or watch the videos, you're doing it wrong. Just listen to the music and chill.

Roger Waters hasn't performed on all the Pink Floyd albums. Since he left after the Wall, Gilmour and Co. won the right to use the name. So that leaves Waters out of Momentary Lapse and The Division Bell.
I would go with Nick Mason (the drummer). The keyboardist was fired sometime around The Wall supposedly because of drug abuse, but was subsequently rehired later on.

Time for Google:
Damn. Alan Stiles was a roadie.
Most highly recommended, btw (just read it a few months ago, and will again), even for not-so-hardcore-fans:
Very entertaining, occasionally almost Douglas-Adams-esque. I enjoyed it immensely.

No.
Wright left in the turmoil amongst the Gilmour/Waters war during the recording of "The Wall".
He actually had the status of a "hired musician", not regular band member, during the "Wall" tour, and was thus the only member of Pink Floyd who actually made money off that tour, rather than a huge loss...
Again, Nick Mason's "Inside Out" comes HIGHLY recommended.

I'd just like to brag for a second and let you guys know that I attended 'The Wall' concert in Madison Square Garden. I was a wee lad - and at the time I wasn't a huge Floyd fan. My friend's father took us. If I remember correctly they only played 2 venues in the US. NYC and somewhere in California.

If Wright left the band on his own accord, why would he come back to play for The Wall shows? That doesn't make sense. If he was fired he would have more of a reason to play again - he wanted to. What I have read is that Waters fired him because he was no longer pulling his weight, but some of the more gossip laden stories say he developed a serious cocaine habit.

The Mason book certainly makes no mention of this.
What's so unlikely about leaving the band during an unbearable situation, and agreeing to play a handful of important gigs on the condition that one is a paid musician?
1. You play the Wall gigs.
2. You actually make good money doing so.
3. They want YOU to play - not the least for publicity reasons.
That makes perfect sense to me, and is certainly how I'd handle the situation.

I have to agree. Money changes things. It makes unpleasant situations more tolerable.
A few years ago somebody finally convinced Simon & Garfunkel to do a concert tour. That was something that many concluded was impossible. Half jokingly, they agreed that they would play together again for the sum of $1 million *per concert*. And they got it. The ticket prices were astronomical and they sold out quick. I went to see them in Atlantic City, expecting them to do a half-hearted show...since they didn't really want to do it. I was wrong. It was an awesome show. Almost worth the $600 I paid for the 2 tickets

I just bought my 140 USD ticket for the roger waters concert in march.
Programme includes a complete interpretation of the Dark Side of The Moon.
That's gonna be good.

You simply can't get a "Floyd" sound without a strat. Maple fretboard preferred.
