They seem to kill more idiots than they do sensible people. A few years ago during Charley, a moron went outside to smoke a cigarette in the middle of the storm and was killed by a tree.

Yeah, it was that video.

What amazes me is the first Youtube comment on it:

Is that guy hooked onto the kite or did he just didn’t want to let go?

Unbelievable. People take hurricanes to lightly at times.

If it wasn't for the hard surface parking lot, metal cars, concrete buildings and stuff, that might be fun.

Well, it does look like he's just holding on. If you're not familiar with kitesurfing, it would be easy to wonder. Also, YouTube commenters are morons. That guy is probably a supergenius among his people.

Sorry but there’s absolutely no way that a person would still hold on the bar without letting go after such an impact without wearing a harness.

You might be surprised.

He probably will sue the kite manufacturer for failing to put huge warning labels on the kite.

I lived in Southern Mississippi for a total of about 10 years. EVERY year we'd hear about Camille. Yep, hurricanes kill people a lot.

I was just talking to someone who was in Biloxi after Katrina. It's amazing what 8 feet of STANDING water AFTER the surge will do to buildings. Fortunately, there weren't a lot of people where he was that didn't heed warnings.

Sorry about being all serious, but I HATE those M-F, nasty evil wind things.

I have a lake in my yard, a leak in my roof, and limbs everywhere and we were a hundred miles away form TROP. STORM Fay. No,Savannah can't handle a hurricane, if and when one comes. That's for sure.

Oh, and I'm hearing this from TS Fay- the deaths have been due to driving in flood waters and those going in the ocean for a swim. Sad.

I've done that. If it goes by far enough off the coast and the surf is about 6-8 feet, then I'll go. If it's any closer, I won't do it.
