In a weird twist, iChat has disappeared from my work machine, a PowerMac G4 running 10.3.7 with a 1.4 GHz processor upgrade. The Software Restore CDs that came with the machine are for OS 9, so they won't work. I tried using the Software Restore CDs from my personal computer, a PowerBook G4, but that didn't work.
I've asked a coworker to e-mail me his iChat, but it refuses to launch.
What are my options for getting it back?
Thanks,
Jason

You could try downloading it from the iChat AV page. Just a thought...

I honestly tried that, but couldn't get it to start downloading. I concluded that I had reached some page that wasn't supposed to be live.
Anyway, thanks!

Whoops. Spoke too soon.
The installer won't install unless I have iChat 2.0 on my machine.

How did you get iChat onto the machine in the first place? However you did that should work again. If not, something's wrong.

I didn't work here when they upgraded the machine to OS X, but I imagine iChat came with Jaguar or something. But I don't want to have to do an entire Archive and Install just to get iChat back. I just want to install that one app.

Use Pacifist to extract iChat from the Panther CD.
