Sprint has formally unveiled its budget ZTE smartphone, following its appearance at the FCC over the weekend. The Sprint Vital has a five-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720 and a "break-resistant LCD," is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor with 1GB of RAM, and will be released by the carrier by the end of this week.

On the back of the Vital is a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash, countered with a 1-megapixel front-facing version. Running on Android 4.1.2, it has 8GB of expandable storage, a 2,500mAh battery claimed to last for up to 15 hours of talk time, NFC, Wi-Fi, and LTE connectivity. As well as the usual apps in Android, it will be pre-loaded with Sprint Zone, Sprint TV and Movies, Sprint Music Plus, and Sprint ID, as well as EA Mobile's Real Racing 3.

The Sprint Vital will be on sale from Friday onwards at a cost of $100 on a two-year contract.
