O.K. guys and gals need some assistance, it's been way to long since I touched DOS (1990).

Grandson, wants to play Zork I on his MacBook. I downloaded Dosbox, and a copy of Zork I, but could not remember enough to marry the two.

This granny, could use some assistance making her grandson happy. ;-)

You're likely better off using Frotz -- Frotz is a program that will take Zork's files and interpret them without fiddling with Dosbox.

Counter-intuitively, don't download Mac versions. Get DOS versions. Inside the Zork folder is a folder called "Data." Open that, and inside is a file called "ZORK1.dat." Point Frotz to that, and you're good to go. You can move the .dat file anyplace you want, it doesn't have to live inside the Zork application folder.

For reference's sake, Zork I-III are free now.
