I need to save an Applescript using Script Editor, so that I'll run whenever I double-click it. What do I need to save it as? Whatever I do, it seems to open in the editor when I click it, except when I save it as a .app..

If im not mistaken (Its been years since I last used applescript), scripts are faster at starting up? Saving my script as an app seems pretty slow, as in ~5 seconds to start up. I recall scripts starting instantaneous?

Do not "double-click" compiled scripts to run them... use Script Menu.
Or, employ programs such as Spark, FastScripts, Quicksilver, Butler, etc.,
which can also provide keyboard shortcuts...

Hit-and-Run: Launching AppleScripts with Keyboard Shortcuts
Run scripts via the Script Menu via keyboard
