I always try to be positive.

Why is it even legal to combine unrelated laws together for voting? This seems undemocratic to me. Kind of blackmailing, isn't it?

Most agendas are passed under the guise of other laws, otherwise crap like software patents would never get passed.

I voted for Bush in 2000. In 2004 I abstained (couldn't vote for either candidate).
I'm thinking about registering independent next time I get the chance. The last 5 years or so have turned me off to the Republican party (not just Bush's fault), though I would never go Democrat.

Wouldn't registering "independent" just keep you from voting in the primaries?

Here, you register republican or democrat so you can vote in that party's primary.

They tried to pass that law in Canada - but they feared nobody would be left to use the internet.

Just remember, Bush may have signed it but there were a whole lot of other people with their hands on that bill before it was ever signed into law. Let's not forget to call them morons, too.

The cool thing about this legislation is that non-americans will now win discussions by default

It's the same way harrassment works. If she says it offends her, then what you said/did was wrong. You are required to read her mind and make sure that what you're going to say won't offend.
