It's just one of those things where it gets worse and worse the longer you look...sort of like Sarah Jessica Parker, but not nearly as likely to be surprisingly charming on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee

In page 1 of this thread, if you scroll up and down fast enough, the Terminator blinks.

The Terminator timeline is complicated, and this is going to bend it a load more. Up to now, my understanding was that T3 and Sarah Connor Chronicles are alternate timelines, so if you follow SCC, then T3 (and Salvation) didn't happen. I still can't work out where Jennysis fits into or is an alternate timeline to, or what it cancels out or hrrrrfgggppfft! Brain farted.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I thought it was pretty clear from the movie itself that the discovery of Arnie's CPU and fore-arm is what allowed the machines to advance faster than in the old timeline (not actions taken by Reese or by Arnie while operational). That was why there was a whole diversion of the narrative in T2 to visit Cyberdyne, collect those artifacts, and melt them in the steel factory.

I just don't know how the "old" Terminator fits in.
He apparently raised Sarah, but in the original timeline, Sarah's mother was alive. So, if this new Terminator was (as far as we know) the ONLY change in the timeline, how did he raise her, and why? What happened to her mother?
It's like the 2009 Star Trek film - Neo coming into the timeline shouldn't have affected some things, but it did. Sloppy storytelling.

No sign of Matt Smith in the trailer. I've watched it a couple of times now, I don't think it's Terminator 2 level good, but it didn't look Terminator 3 level bad.

I liked it more when we got to the present, and that there are (potentially) fun alternate time streams happening.
The color palette of the grim, dark future is pretty ridonk.

Looks like it will be something good to zone out for a couple of hours with a bucket of popcorn if nothing else. Not sure if I'll see it at the theater or wait till it hits the Apple TV. But I'll definitely watch it.

In a "What do you mean Walter White is the dad from Malcolm In The Middle!!" type moment, I only realised this week that Sarah Connor in this is the same actress as Daenerys the dragon woman in Game Of Thrones.
In my defence all I've seen of GoT are clips, pictures and a few Youtube videos.

I have yet to watch GoT as well, but I figure her unbleached eyebrows would be a dead giveaway.
Why don't they bleach her eyebrows?!

She's supposed to look a bit alien and not quite human (because she is, which you know if you've seen the ending of season 1), but in the show they only went with the bleached hair for some reason.

He doesn't spell it out, because that scene is supposed to come as a surprise, but...
The Targayens fled to Westeros from a collapsing empire (Valyria), and brought the dragons. Only they could control the dragons, and though it is not spelled out how, they seem to have genetically modified themselves (one of the novellas in particular states that it is hereditary at least), adding some sort of control gene and confering immunity to fire as well. This is why they kept marrying in the family, to keep those genes alive - and as a side effect keeping the insanity around. During the first book, the reasons for the breeding program have been forgotten, but Daenerys pretty much reasons it out - hence here comment about her brother's death, if he had been "a true dragon" he would have survived being dunked in molten gold.

The Scottish Connery in the original was playing an Egyptian in the employ of the King of Spain, not a Highlander.
The Highlander was played by the Swiss-French-American Christopher Lambert.
Its obvious when you think about it.

You can tell how desperate Hollywood is by the popularity of the series they trying to remake. Highlander has cult status at best.

Good point, I forgotten about that.
To me, that's grounds for a new series, though, not a movie. The movies were never that successful.

Though I liked the movie, I was ultimately more a fan of the show. At least for a few seasons, it definitely jumped the shark.
Christopher Lambert, while he looks awesome, isn't a very engaging actor. Adrian Paul on the other hand, is pretty decent.
WRT Dakar's point about a TV show reboot, it does have the built in "immortal of the week" setup, but I don't know if you could fit it into today's TV business model without having a movie to pull in new fans.

Does USA even really count as television? That's a whole network whose primary demographic are people too stoned or too fat to find their remote control.

Lambert's voice, though it never "fit" the character (a Scottish Frenchman?), somehow made the character at the same time. There was just something about it that was so wrong yet so right.
"Want to hear another theory?"

My first take on Adrian Paul was that he was an atrocious actor. By the end of the series, my opinion was that he was actually a very good actor but that he didn't look or sound like he could be.
Its difficult to put your finger on exactly, but maybe he lacks a certain gravitas or character but he looks like an American soap star and has the voice of an English villain from an American soap too. Its unfortunate for him really.
