Well, the finder just scrambled about a hundred or so carefully arranged folders in my home folder. I clicked the home icon from several layers deep in the finder and bingospacing expanded and all the icons shuffled. It drives me completely nuts! I know some suggest abandoning icon view altogether as it's a holdover and not natural to OS X, but I'm a visual type and I like to arrange the foldersin that one window anyway. What makes this happen? Is there something I can turn on or off or not do to avoid this insanity?

Now that everyone knows it's just a matter of waiting for 1.20.09.

Yes. In the Finder select View->Show View Options. With the Finder window with your icons set to As Icons in the View menu, you can select what, if any, organizing set you want. At the top of the View Options window you can select if you want this apply to this window only or all windows.
If no check marks a present and you have This window only selected, your icons will stay where you put them.

WTF? Icon view is the only view I use, most of the time. The way we Mac users work is Icon view.

Trainiable is to cat as ability to live without food is to human.
