i recently purchased a used lombard and the battery seems to be completely worthless. if i start up the computer with A/C plugged in, it does not recognize the expansion bay as even containing a battery. if i push the little button on the battery, nothing lights up. this battery is completely toast, beyond any help, right?

Boot into Open Firmware by pressing Cmd-Opt-O-F at startup. Then type reset-nvram, hit the Return key, and then typed reset-all.

It normally will restore battery to life if it has any capability left!

thanks for the tip. however, i am a moron

i, uh, didn't have the power adapter plugged in (/me hangs head in shame). it was drawing juice from the battery in the other bay. so, the battery i thought was funky works fine.

i guess i thought that even when the battery was at its most dead the laptop would recognize a battery was present, but i guess that is only if the power adapter is plugged int
