i have tried various settings ie including Font Smoothing Style listed under System Preferences/Appearance but the font problem remains.
Running Tiger on a Mac Book Pro. A point of clarify about what I mean by Jagged. The top menu display OK ie File Edit View etc but click on one of these and the submenus display as normal weight fonts interspersed with bold. So the problem does not affect the menus but does effect sub menus. Has only been a problem for a day or so and not sure what bought this problem on.

Can you take a screenshot of the problem? Also, just to get the question out of the way, have you tried creating a new account to see if it happens there too? (That can narrow the possibilities.)

Very strange. . . I had rebooted the computer twice without luck to fix the problem before i posted this thread. Then I took your advice and logged out of my session and into another one. No font problems there. Then I logged out of there and back into the original one and GUESS WHAT? Problem fixed. VERY STRANGE. "
